Coastal Connections: A 'Taste' of CiteD
I know you are ready for a "taste' of what's to come with CiteD. This is a perfect excuse to share what I developed for Guenevere's birthday in early November. CiteD is a collection of cards & simple tools that will 'up' the fun for families and their traveling friends by G.A.B.
Getting Ready: CiteD will bring the fun to planning ahead.
At the beach: Activities & simple tools for in the moment, that match the season & forecast.
- Back Home: Tools to connect the learning and preserve memories.
Birthday's should be celebrated, right!? So, I designed this deck of cards and tools for Guenevere to experience on her mini beach trip. I've spent years of living and visiting the beach in the fall. It's not the same as a summer beach trip so the activities were built for cooler weather. I am in Texas now so a weekend trip to North Carolina was not in the cards. So this CiteD trial is meant to thank Guenevere for her time and dedication as a 'critical friend' & collaborating advisor in this business venture. If only we could have celebrated at the beach together!
These particular CiteD materials were developed with Wrightsville Beach, NC in mind. During Spring 2020 the CiteD test product will be generalized for Coastal North Carolina and/or Coastal Texas.
This is what CiteD looks like at the moment, Let's call it 'Cited at the Beach, version 2.0' ... and I wonder, which of you reading this will be a part of the adventure getting to version 3.0 and beyond?
Getting Ready: CiteD will bring the fun to planning ahead. Tools will help you anticipate and feel prepared. I've pulled from reliable sources and having time to research recommendations from friends in order to make the most of your time. The anticipation can work to build excitement and relieve the stresses of planning last minute. Once CiteD is launched, materials will be sent out a couple of weeks in advance of your trip. This 'friendly prototype' taught us, overnighting and postal service can be tricky. I had some great learning moments trying to overnight this CiteD gift!

Snapshots of the 'Getting Ready' cards coming into use again:
Set out for an evening walk. CiteD cards include helpful reminders such as 'when and where to look for constellations' at your specific location. At Wrightsville Beach, NC; its likely to be the Northeast.
Use your 'Getting Ready' tools to know when to head out beach combing or kayaking. Knowing in advance when it is high tide may help a paddle through the marsh. The benefits of low tide often reveals the most shells.
